Question: How long to walk from Harrah's to the Venetian?

How far is it from Harrah's to the Venetian in Las Vegas? I'm heading to a convention being held in the Venetian. I have the option of staying there, or at Harrah's. If I stay at Harrah's, I get a little extra money for drinks and expenses. What I really want to know is how long it realistically takes to walk from a room in Harrah's to wherever the convention center is in the Venetian.

Those are like next door to each other. Under ten minutes, to any part of the Venetian, I would say. Still, wear sensible shoes.

They are, indeed, very close, but I think you'll be sorry if you stay at Harrah's. The rooms at the Venetian are obscenely nice, so unless they'll give you a big chunk of change (going rate difference between Harrah's and Venetian rooms has to be in the $150+ range, I'd guess), I'd stay at the V.

Stay at the Venetian--much nicer. I know, I didn't answer your question but I had to chime in.

They're not quite adjacent. You have this between Harrah's and Venetian.

Personally, I'd only take Harrah's if the money will make a meaningful difference in your ability to enjoy Vegas. If it's just pocket change to you, stay at the Venetian. It's MUCH nicer.

It's no problem unless you're a shambling zombie, lurching forward to the conference. For all those who can walk, it's, like, 10-15 at most.

If your convention is in the Venetian proper, it's about a 20 minute walk, room to room, assuming you know where you're going.

But if your convention is in the Las Vegas Convention Center, which is owned by the company that owns the Venetian (Las Vegas Sands Co.), that's different. LVCC is adjacent to the Venetian, but off the Strip, and from Harrah that's about a 30 minute walk. It can be pretty warm in the daytime, too, so expect to arrive sweaty if you're wearing business clothes.

I stayed in the Venetian just last month and had a great time. I definitely recommend the 100x free odds at the Casino Royale craps table, too.

In the summer, yes. In the winter, it can get mighty chilly -- it snowed on New Year's Day a few years back!

That photo doesn't show the parking garage behind the Venetian that leads you directly to Harrah's. Ask the valets at the Venetian front door and they'll show you the shortcut.

We stayed at Harrah's once and wound up at the Venetian for most of our casino activities. They really are quite close to one another.

Again, if you have a little spare budget room and the price difference isn't too great, the Venetian is the way to go. But Harrah's is pretty cheap, and was a good choice for a super cheapo bachelor party last year (6 guys in one room. Some sleeping on the floor. And you don't want to know what happened in the bathroom).
Go to the Harrahs outside cocktail bar to see some fantastic cocktail mixing. Spent hours (and a lot of dollars) there. If you stay long enough, you might end up on TV - some Harrahs thing films there. Tacky, but entertaining (ie Vegas). Saw one of the bartenders get a $1000 tip once. That was something.

Thanks, all. I think I'll just stick with the Venetian. Sounds nice, and if ikkyu2 is correct about walking times, needing 40 minutes or so just to pop back to my room between sessions sounds like a drag.

Yes, things that *look* close often aren't that close. I stayed at Circus Circus when attending a recent conference and my god was I miserable. I was booked in some ass room in the far back of the hotel and it took me WAY longer than I thought it would to walk to the convention center.

Opt for a cab, or consider the monorail. If you're gonna be there for a few days, also think about just renting a car. Parking at the convention center is $10 per day, but you can park behind the Riviera and just walk across the convention center's "Gold Lot."

Nope, you're thinking of somewhere else - I fleeced the Casino Royale of $350 just last month.

Casino Death Watch keeps track of these things. Perhaps you mean the Boardwalk?
