DC-Baltimore commute time?

How long would my daily commute (driving or MARC) take if I lived in Takoma Park/Silver Spring and worked in Baltimore, right off of 83 at around E. Fayette St. and S. Calvert St?

I made a similar commute for years, driving, and it took an hour each way. But at least 20 minutes of that time was getting to and from the Colesville Rd exit of 495 from my house in Mt. Pleasant. I also had some time in Baltimore.

The traffic is negligible going in that direction at rush hour. Sometimes driving home I would have some issues with an accident or volume, mostly when I hit 495. I would get off at NH Ave on the way home a lot to avoid it (and to go to The Carribean Market at NH & Univ).

I looked into the MARC, but the times did not work out for me as they seemed to be set up for the Baltimore-DC morning run. It might have been different were I close to the stations at either end, as it sounds like you are.

Yes, as OmieWise implies, actual highway time is around 45 minutes. It depends how far you live off 495.

Yeah, I live near Hyattsville and my husband commutes to Baltimore. With his lead foot it's an average of 45 min. each way driving, and I don't know that it's much faster taking the marc.

I used to go from your area to mid Baltimore (to MICA) and on a good day, no traffic it took 40 minutes.
