Since when do FBI agents wear camo?

What film was being shot in Washington Square Park yesterday?

My wife and I walked through Washington Square Park in NYC yesterday (September 27) and the entire fountain was roped off with police cars and fake police everywhere. Fake FBI agents, too. There was a crane and a ton of lighting. Does anybody know what was being shot?

More generally, it seems like there would be a site that would be a clearinghouse for this type of information. Kind of like Gawker stalker with a narrower focus. Is there one?

As a former NYU student I can tell you for future reference that the easiest way to identify a shoot is to find a truck with a permit on the dash that's visible through the windshield. It'll tell you the name of the film. If it's a small shoot it will almost always be the frontmost one in a line of parked trucks. In a bigger shoot, try one of the makeup/dressing room trailers.

Damn things were ALWAYS in the way when I was trying to get to class or work.

The working title is often on the "No Parking on ____ " notices too. (And yes, I think they should rot in hell.)

Also for future reference, look for pink or yellow papers (usually in plastic sheet protectors) taped to phone poles near the trucks. They're warnings from the city department that does the permitting not to park there on certain dates, and they also say the name of the production.
[Or, on preview, what R. Mutt said.]

Best answer: Someone over at Feministe said they were filiming an episode of the new show Kidnapped.

Best answer: They're still filming today. Some of the PAs shouted at me while I was walking to work telling me to watch Kidnapped on NBC, so I'd say that's a safe bet.

Yeah, I looked at the pink No Parking signs on poles on Mercer, and the project name was Kidnapped. I think the no-parking goes through October 2, although that isn't a guarantee they'll be shooting for that long. I can check the date again tomorrow if you're interested.

Were the three helicopters hovering over the west village at the same time involved in the shoot somehow?
