it's not rude, just a bit blunt (plain form expression of personal desire that in this case requires action on the part of the addressee). Sometimes blunt means rude though. :)

You might say 'mou-ichi-do mite kudasai' to request they show it to you again ('please show me it again'). Or 'mou-ichi-do miraremasen ka' ('can I see it again?'). Both are in more polite forms.

I wouldn't sweat this though -- a clerk is going to forgive your friend's bad japanese (assuming they understand what he/she means).

Or you could just say, "mou ichido mitai desu." (I'd like to see it again.) Add "desu" and it becomes politer in this case.

'mou-ichi-do mite kudasai'

Sorry, nitpicking a bit here...
I think you mean, "mou ichido misete kudasai." (Please show it to me again.) "mou ichido mite kudasai" means "Please look again."

But R343L is right, the person at the store won't mind!
