Help-me-find-this-book: Series about 2 girls who get into adventures involving magic. I remember one where they had some kind of invisibility cloak and another where a forest grew inside one of the girls' rooms. They tried to keep the magic hidden from others. I remember reading these books in the mid 1970s.

Maybe it's What the Witch Left by Ruth Chew. Two girls find a drawer full of treasures, including an invisibility cloak, boots that go seven leagues with each step, gloves that make whatever you do with your hands come out perfect, a box that recovers lost things...

There was a whole series by Ruth Chew, each book about witches/magic. I read each one that my local library had, and owned several. For a couple of years she was my favorite author.

Kick ass! I loved those books, one look at the cover and it all came back. I'm ordering right now, thanks so much!

Reading this post reminded me of a book I read many times as a kid, Ruth Chew's The Witch in the Window - another good children's book from he pre-Potter days. Thanks for the post - brought up a good childhood memory!
