I only want my programs to access the VPN, how would I configure this?

How would I deny access to a my local network for applications, but allow them to access a VPN? I am thinking zone alarm / kerio / black ice would work, but I can't figure out how to configure them to do this. Any hints would be appreciated.

I use the good-old Sygate Personal Firewall and it allows me to create Application rules, managing what can each application access and what no.

ie: I want to my ftp client to access just the vpn and not the local net, then add the rule that says -just access to this connection/adapter-

Sure new firewalls allow that too.
