Question: Saturday night in Luxembourg. What should I do?

At the end of the month I'll be spending a Saturday evening in Luxembourg. What shall I do? I'll be myself, and would like to do something I'm not able to do anywhere else. What are the options?

I assume you're talking about Luxembourg City specifically. Tricky - my memory of the place (spent a weekend there in 03) is that there's not much to do on the weekends, and certainly not at night. It's got a 'rural' vibe to it, if that makes sense. Maybe if you hunt down a nice restaurant and sample some local cuisine? It's also a pretty picturesque place to walk around in, but the views are best during the day.

Aaactually Luxembourg has a pretty active night life on the weekends, it's the rest of the week that's dead (except Wednesdays). Not sure if it offers something you can't do anywhere else.

But the old part of town is nice (around the "Feschmaart"), has lots of little pubs and clubs, some of which are quite picturesque, and the international community congregates there (well, used to when I still lived in Lux). From there you can also easily access the Grund, which has more pubs and restaurants. It's simply quite a nice area to be in, since it's the historic part of town.

Um yeah. I can ask some of my Lux friends for specific recommendations if you like.

Walk across the big red bridge (le grand pont rouge). Go see a movie. Saturday evening is not a great time to be in Lux unless you're into night clubs.

Admire the lovely old, well-cleanned buildings, while wondering who's brother-in-law owns a sandblasting contractor. Seriously, the cleanest old buildings I ever saw.

What happens on Wednesday?

Heh so I saw this question now (months later) while ambling here from the "Luxembourg" tag.
Wednesday seems to be the day that Luxembourgers have decided they can also go out and party because it's too long to wait til the next weekend. Or something like that.
