Cheap tickets for London theaters?

In NYC there's the half-price ticket booth at Times Square, that sells discounted seats for Broadway and off-Broadway theaters.

I am hoping such a thing exists for the London theater district.

There's one in Leicester Square and another on the Canary Wharf DLR Station.

But be careful of things that say "Half price tickets" - they are not the real thing. Just use the TKTS one.

To echo athenian- only use the one in Leicester Square. There are so many little stalls selling 'discounted tickets' around the place, but it is a complete (albeit legal) scam. I worked for one of them for a day and all they do is send some lackey (me) to the theatre, where I buy the full price tickets, then take them back to the stall where they'll sell them to tourists for even more. That, or they'll get me to use my student discount and then make even more money, and the customer may not even get let in.

Stick with Leicester Square.

National theatre Travelex £10 season. (Royal opera has the same, but I believe they're sold out.)

Plus, if you're after a specific show, you can often queue for (heavily discounted) returns.

... if you stand up in the 'pit'! If you do this, make sure to get there early, so you can be right at the front and lean your arms on the stage. It's really, really cool, especially since the performers go out of their way to have a little fun with the people down there -- you have to dodge out of their way a fair few times.
