Safe way to use second condom?

Do I really need to take a freaking shower before I put a second condom on?

Sex ed websites seem to agree that the penis should be washed "with soap and water" after the first condom is removed (after ejaculation) before another one is put on to go again. Is this really necessary? How carefully do I need to wash? Any tips on how to make this process less annoying?

I'm concerned about pregnancy, not STDs.

The reason for this is that live sperm could end up on your hands, and therefore the outside of the condom, as you're manuvering your penis into the second condom.

Which is why spermicidal condoms should be used.

Or birth control pills.

Or both, in a perfect world.

Remember, there's only "safer sex." :-)

Cleaner is always better! Just use the time showering, thinking about how much fun you will have for round two.

Let me be the first to say: probably not. I mean, I've had lots of second-round sex without washing and I'm still not knocked up.

Why do you need to take a shower? Can't you just clean your willy in the sink?

No one can guarantee 100% in either direction, this question is a bit unanswerable. Most likely not. Depends how obsessively careful you want to be.

Not only are we talking about sperm outside the body we're talking about a miniscule amount of sperm. While it only takes one, I really doubt under normal conditions that this is even remotely possible.

Can't you *both* be in the shower? And what's not fun about that?

Another possibility: Putting on the second condom without washing first increases the possibility of the condom falling off due to the slippery material underneath? Obviously a pretty slim possibility but if you are looking at being super-cautious...

Why wait through the long line for the flume ride again when the bumper cars are right next door?

Necessary? Probably not. but it certainly won't hurt. Just wash it off in the sink. Wash your hands as well.

I am so ashamed to participate in empty speculation on askMe but - maybe you could just use wet-naps and get the same effectiveness? Sperm will no more survive an alcohol bath than they will soap & water, I expect.

I have, however, no cites on this and googling has not been effective.

Another vote for washing your cock off in the sink. Its not graceful, but it gets the job done. Careful with the face towels after.

If the condom slides off inside her because you didn't wash, then there was no point using one to begin with.

Don't use wet-naps - I am pretty sure they'd affect the effectiveness of the spermicide.

I recommend showering together.

I've always washed up after because it increases the chance of oral on the second time around. Sink was always good enough, the shower can wait until we're actually done.

Don't understand the worries about the condom sliding off if you don't wash-- I always put a little lube in there anyway to make things more slippery...

Seconded!

FWIW in response to using spermicidal condoms, I wouldn't do it. They can be very irritable to the vaginal lining and increase chances of infection.

Get her on the pill. It's the only way to be (mostly) sure.

That said, I too did a lot of second-condom action in my college days, and no pregnancies resulting that I know of.

You were never invited over in the first place.

And if you're that squeemish, who needs you anyway?

Brandon Blatcher writes "I'm never coming over again."

You realise the sink is there to wash your hands after touching much less sanitary bits right?

This is totally not a concern if you have an adult-sized cock. I mean, hell, a little lube helps things!
