Are there internet radio streams that play (a) contemporary classical (I love Max Richter and Jóhann Jóhannsson; I don't care for Philip Jeck) or (b) folk-y artists like James Yorkston, Marissa Nadler, Vashti Bunyan, and Emilíana Torrini?

I accidentally deleted all the music on my laptop. Don't worry -- I made a copy two weeks ago -- but it's not nearby, and I'm busy all this week. For the time being I can take advantage of my nearly-free broadband and listen to streams. I'd prefer single-genre streams (more or less), but I'll take what I can get.

Radio Darvish is great, but not all the time. Ditto Espace Musique.

I should stress that the artists are closer to what I want than the genre labels. I come from an indie pop background and those artists I've found independently and grouped together myself.

try a last.fm station for music "similar to max richter, johann johannsonn" etc or listen to a certain tag/label/whatever

KUSC will get you through the night. KCRW sounds eclectic has an excellent range of music.

wnyc.org has an excellent program called new sounds that is mostly contemporary classical but with some indie rock & world music as well.

Pandora is also good, very similar to last.fm.

You can also try Screamer Radio. It's a radio streaming player with an huge directory of internet stations.
