NOPA on Divisadero makes a nice Sazerac. Hawthorne Lane also serves Sazeracs, or at least they did a few months ago, when I was last there.
You could probably get one at the Top of the Mark or the Starlight Lounge... in fact, I'd imagine any of the more upscale hotel bars would pour a Sazerac. (Sorry, don't know about Oakland.) posted by trip and a half at 3:06 PM on September 6, 2006
In Oakland, the bar at the Claremont Hotel makes a decent Sazerac. posted by luriete at 3:10 PM on September 6, 2006
In and around the Hayes Valley area of San Francisco you can track down a Sazerac at Sugar's (Hayes & Gough), Absinthe (also at Hayes and Gough) and the Orbit Room (1900 Market).
I wouldn't be surprised if you could order one at either Jade (McAllister and Gough) or Sauce (Oak and Gough) to boot, but no confirmation there.
All of these locations are walking distance from the Civic Center BART. posted by one.louder.ash! at 5:18 PM on September 6, 2006
Range, down in the Mission at like, what, 20th and Valencia; and Absinthe (on Hayes) both make a Sazerac. At Range they actually half-melt a sugar cube onto the bottom of the glass so it's all gritty and authentic.
The bartenders at Absinthe are really tops, and they stock all kinds of crazy things to drink from all over the world. I love to take a drink or two there. posted by ikkyu2 at 7:33 PM on September 6, 2006
