Name That Moviefilter (again)

A friend is trying to remember the name of a movie she saw on Bravo in the mid-to-late 90s. She remembers it as being either in French or Italian, with the plot as follows: "it's about this couple that gets married and they're not meant to be together or something like that,so they're never in the same room together. if the husband walked into the living room the wife was in the kitchen, if the wife was on the stairs the husband was in the basement... it was really weird. they kept disappearing." If anyone can remember it, the hivemind can!
