Question: Making a playlist of mp3 snippets. Is it possible?

I have a bunch of mp3 mixes which are 1 or 2 hours long and would like to make a playlist which only plays a snippets of these mp3's
(e.g the playlist would be something like:
radiomix1.mp3 from 22:02 to 25:46
then radiomix2.mp3 10:12 - 12:01 etc)

Is this possible using normal playlists? I normally use winamp but I can't see a way to do this.

I've never heard of doing that, but you could certainly use Audacity to split the files.

I'm not sure how to do this in winamp, but if you're using itunes, use the "get info" function click on the "Options" tab and there you can change the "Start Time" and "Stop time" then click "ok" and you'll get a new shorter track which you can then put into a new playlist.

(iTunes only remembers one pair of start and stop times per file, which may be a problem)

You might be able to get some love using this commandline interface addition to Winamp and writing your playlists as batch files. Got no PC, so I can't check it out.

iTunes doesn't seem to write the Start and Stop times to playlists, unfortunately, which would be an elegant solution to your problem.

Goldwave is a shareware audio program that, like Audacity, will split the files. The shareware part only limits you to a certain number of actions (something like 100 - I've never reached the limit on simple song editing) per program start. You hit that limit and have to restart the program.

(iTunes only remembers one pair of start and stop times per file, which may be a problem)

The kludgy solution to this is to keep multiple copies of the song in your library, with a different start and stop time set on each one. I don't know if there's graceful solution.
