Hotel recommendations near Key Largo, FL?

I'll be heading down to Key Largo in two weeks to go to John Pennekamp park, and would like to stay one or two nights in the area, somewhere between Key Largo and Islamadora.

The Bay Breeze Motel had been recommeded to me by family, but they are currently closed and remodelling. What other places down there are nice? I'm not looking for anything too fancy, just a quiet place with a nice beach and decent accomodations.

Back in 98, I stayed at the Westin Key Largo for my Honeymoon; it was quite nice.

Be prepared for sticker shock if you go to any restaurants in the area, dining out was rather expensive.

You're there to SCUBA/snorkel and not hang on the beach, right? Because the quality of beaches - if you can even call them that - on the keys is quite low. For the most part they are all eroded right up to the water line or they have mangroves.

If you want to be a beach bum you want to be in the Miami area and go out to Miami Beach or Key Biscayne.
