Should I respond to a medical marijuana ad from the backpage of the Seattle Weekly?

Every week I see ads like "Marijuana patient services" or "Medical marijuana" on the backpage of Seattle Weekly. These are presumably there to assist people in getting a prescription (?) for medical marijuana. I just recently moved to Seattle. What is the deal with medical marijuana and these ads here?

I'm somewhat afraid of getting myself onto some sort of watchlist...

Can't speak to Seattle, and my understanding of SF's market for such is secondhand, but from what I know here, if you have even the most remotely justifiable argument for medical marijuana, the guys on those back pages are the ones that will fill it for you. As will many, more "legit" doctors (I have no idea how legit you are or are not for advertising in a weekly).

If you want to use medical marijuana because you have a legit medical need, I think you are better off asking around for a doctor. I can see all sorts of possible downsides to responding to an ad in the weekly, but not as many to a well-respected doctor.

The current legal situation is less than pleasant. SCOTUS decided that the Federal government can make and enforce laws against distribution of medical marijuana, so you might be leaving yourself open for a Federal indictment at some future date, since there would be a paper trail.

Seattle's Hempfest is coming up this weekend. I'd expect that you'd be able to talk with some local medical marijuana people there without leaving a paper trail.

Finding weed in this town is easier than picking up the phone to call and inquire about some likely weak medical marijuana.

Uhm, not that I'd know.

It's all about the hookups, runehog. ;)

(not that I'd know anything about the scene in Seattle, or Portland, OR, for that matter.)
