Help me use the Web

My Windows Explorer in Win 2000 will open a web site but when it is loaded, the site immediately refreshes. This repeats again and again in every page and makes it impossible to use the web. This just began to happen today. I’ve run a virus and adware check and nothing shows. Any ideas on what to do about this?

Strange... A user was complaining of the other thing at work the other day.. The user was on Windows 2000 Server, and it was doing it on Google.com. Automagic updates are disabled. IE6. It was only google.com though.

Well, first, you *do* mean "Internet Explorer", right?

I understand there was a patch in yesterday's batch that US-CERT/DHS recommends installing; I don't know if it has anything to do with this.

Have you tried FireFox?

*heh* I'm with crunchyk9. Is that keyboard on a tray that slides under your desk? ;)

(Yeah, you all roll your eyes. That just means you don't work in tech support. Trust me, this happens. A lot.)

Try Firefox. Just download the file, run it, it imports everything from internet explorer so you have all your favorites, and it works the same way so there's nothing new to learn. It's better. Give it a shot.

Yeah or you could switch to mac! It just works (tm)!

But seriously - if you want to fix the problem described - are you on the latest version of IE for Win 2000? Upgrading the version would be beneficial in itself and may resolve the issue as a side effect. Try going to windowsupdate.com and making sure you are all up to date (with patches also).
