So, my friend and I just... uh... liberated a puppy from an abusive owner. I've decided to keep it. Help me pick a name!

We'd like a name that's keeping in the theme of how this puppy was acquired. (i.e. stealthily, at night). Cunning references to the fact that it was destined to be a food dog (I'm in Korea) would be enjoyed.

In all seriousness, though, I think Chunder's suggestion of Liberty is the best yet. For a night-related name, you could go with something like Midnight, although that would probably be more appropriate for a black dog. Or, if you want more of a food theme, you could call her something like Kibbles 'n Bits. Or combine the two. Call her Midnight Snack... yes, I know, I'm a terrible person.

Well since you're in Korea, my mind is filled with Robin Hood-esque moments from M*A*S*H, and thus I'm thinking of Hawkeye Pierce. I'm sure it's not appropriate, but nothing makes me think of him more than stealing something stealthily to aid someone in need (and Hawkeye is a pretty gender neutral nickname, so forget that your dog doesn't look a bit like Alan Alda).

I really like magodesky's suggestion of Midnight Snack, though. It really alludes to the past and the present.

Although things are changing, many still view this as acceptable in Korea. In addition, we are only taking it on his word that the dog was going to be eaten. The pup certainly doesn't look to be mistreated in any way.

Therefore, I say you call the puppy back to his house where he belongs, you thief.

Actually, no. Just for everyones information, while I'm pretty certain that Boshi was going to end up as dinner, that's not the abuse I was talking about.

The six-inch-long lead tied to a hook in the ground where she was stuck over fifteen hours a day, whether in rain or unbearable heat (and I've observed both)... THAT was the abuse that I was saving her from.

My friend who assisted in the liberation effort has decided to keep the dog, who I did end up naming Boshi despite the dozens of fantastic suggestions here (Yoink, Che, and of course Dumpling were all very close to being picked). MeFi, you rock!
