new tivo, no audio on digital channels

Just hooked up new dual tuner Tivo and love it. One problem, though. On the digital channels (100 and up), I'm not getting the audio. I've double checked all connections, read the manual cover to cover, and checked the faq. Still no help. Suggestions?

I need a few more details here. Dish or cable? If cable, how are you connected to the cable box to the Tivo?

It's probably only outputing digital audio, no analog at all (assuming you don't have a surround sound system). There is probably some sound option to turn off dolby digital and turn on Prologic II.

I remember having a similar problem with my digital cable box from Cox. The "basic" channels (under 100) output only analog audio, and the "digital" channels output only digital audio. Luckily, I had a receiver that would auto-select the source for a given input. So, since the "TV" input had digital AND analog audio in, I hooked up both of them, and my receiver was smart enough to switch as I changed channels. However, if you don't have that capability (or you don't want to fire up your ridiculous 5.1 system to watch TV), you'll probably have to dig around in the TiVo menu to find out how to disable digital audio out.

Denfinitely sounds like (ha!) an issue with digital audio output. You can either hook the TiVo up to your stereo using an optical cable (which will give you the best possible sound), or you can disable digital output by going into the settings menu on the TiVo.

On my Series 1 Tivo, you get there buy going to main tivo menu-->messages and setup-->My preferences--->Audio Options --> Dolby Digital
yours will probably be some variation of this.
