Resources for starting an online adult film business?

What are some good resources for starting an online gay adult film business?

I'm an enterprising gay twenty-something web guy who thinks he can do better than (or at least as well as) some of the adult sites out there today. I'd like to start my own pay-per-download site, and recruit my own talent. However, I have no experience in this area, and I don't know anything about the legal issues I might encounter, how much models generally expect to be paid, and the plethora of other issues I might not even be taking into consideration.

Can anyone recommend any resources that might be valuable to a budding porn mogul in the making? :)

Offer to work for free as an intern with any of the other gay film outfits. You'll pick up more than you want to know.

Well, I don't know much about the gay side of things but women generally want about $700-$1000 for a shoot. Straight men make much less, and I would imagine gay men make a lot less as well.

For the legal issues, you need to have a model release and a proof of age form along with two forms of ID on file. That's about it.

The biggest challenge will be marketing. Since there's so much porn on the internet, how do people find out about your site?

delmoi, is that really all you need? Seems like prostitutes could get around solicitation charges really easy by advertising themselves as porn producer/actress combos, so long as they videotaped the john in action. "Personalize your porn just the way you like it by being a part of the action. Our model/consultants will work to ensure you porno is just the way you like it."

Halcyon does something in the porn industry, I don't think it is gay porn, but he might be able to point you in the right direction.

i've heard gay men make more money than straight men when it comes to porn. that's why many straight men will make gay porn films. it's all about the money.

AVN is probably the best-known business publication serving the industry. Also useful for tracking the legal machinations and harassment coming from the Justice Dept./Bush administration/current congress.

I know it's a derail, but just to answer that side question: See here and here.

I'm not sure if they're accepting any registrations right now, but GFY is a big adult webmaster forum.
