Is there a way to only display new items in bloglines? I've saved a lot of items using the keep as new feature, but sometimes I just want to click on a folder and see only the new items and not every item I've saved with the keep as new feature.

I never got into using Bloglines, but maybe a <a href="http://dunck.us/collab/GreaseMonkeyUserScriptsSpecific#head-4a8604716c28b34bb775d8f65b6cd9ac65e9a5b5"> Greasemonkey script</a> would help? I'm not sure if any will work if you're keeping them as new, since by design I'd think they'd be indistinguishable from other new ones...

Have you considered using the 'Clip/Blog this' function instead of 'keep as new'? If you just tell that to save to the clippings folder, you now have a separate area (the Clippings tab on the sidebar) for saved links. It's not quite as simple as the keep as new function, but it is a cleaner way of displaying saved items, and you don't need to enable their blog features to use it.
