Question: Goethe had one. I want one, too.

This being a historical antecedent of this, I have a two part question:

1. What are these types of saddle-like chairs called (I'm assuming they have some sort of official name in the antiques trade, at least)?
2. Where might I find woodworking plans to build such a thing?

Thoughts? Comments? Help!

I was just waiting for the experts to come out and give a definitive answer, but no such luck. In that Goethe picture, the first thing I thought of was that I'd seen something like that before. I *think* it was Marley in some video/cartoon adaptation of A Christmas Carol, working over the business's books. I tried searching for 'accountant's desk', 'bookkeepers desk' (and chair), but I didn't have any luck. I have no idea how you should proceed, but if you could find a history of Victorian furniture or something, that might be a way to go. Good luck!
