Help! Trying to locate an LED display color light base to light up a hand blown glass globe (to sit on top of the lighted base); attached find a link (http://www.ccl-light.com/docs/indoor/undercab/ledlight/ql-07c/index.html) for EXACTLY what i'm looking for, but they have a $100 minimum order and they won't let me just buy 1, and I can't locate anything similar anyplace else. I do want colored LED lights. Ideas?

I've purchased discrete LEDs from BestHongKong before, back when blue LEDs were still cool and it was the only place I found where they were affordable. They have multi-LED bulbs, including what looks like some that you just screw into a light socket, but those are all white. The colored ones all need a 50 cent socket they also sell, along with a 12V (ac or dc) supply such as this that they do not. You could buy that supply, or you might have something laying around already. Cut off the plug end of the power supply, twist a power supply wire to each socket wire, wrap it in tape, and you're good. Or you could be fancy and buy connectors and solder.

Call them and ask if they have sold to any wholesalers. Perhaps they will sell you one.

American Science and Surplus has a few pages of LEDs at what look to be decent prices.

Here's the item in question for $19.95 each, no minimums.

I just did a google search on the part number, for future reference. There are more results, but the part number is QL-07C so you can do the search yourself.

Like color-changing LEDs? You'll go nuts at Paint With Lights. This product in particular may suit your needs.

Note: I have no affiliation with these guys, but I have ordered quite a bit of Color Kinetics from them, and thought I'd share the resource. He's on eBay, too.

Google up: LED Coaster.
I know Chauvet sells an LED coaster that's weight-triggered, so when you place something on it, it will illuminate and slowly shift colors.
