My ipod will not upload photos...Music is no problem but at the end of the upload process, after is has completely gone through the new photo's from iphoto, I get a message that reads "ipod cannot be updated. The file (Name of my ipod) cannot be found. I then unplug, all music is there but photos are not. I work on a Mac PowerBook G4. Any suggestions?

From what I've seen occasionally an iPod will give you this sort of an error when it contains a damaged song. I suggest three things:

-Try it on a different computer. I use my 5g video iPod on both my laptop and home computer - if you have two you can test with (and don't mind authorizing a second system if necessary) you may be able to see if the problem is with the computer or the iPod.

-If it's clearly the iPod, re-format the thing and start over with a clean install of the iPod firmware. Try just uploading photos before you try adding any music. This will tell you if it's a problem with a damaged song, a problem with the firmware, or an actual physical problem that causes it to be unable to handle photos.

-If you can't get anywhere after trying this, contact Apple support. As long as you aren't over warranty they are great in my experience - replaced my wife's Mini after it began acting weird, no questions asked.

(FWIW I'm running WinXP, so trying any of the above may or may not be easy for you. Good luck with it.)
