NYC Carts

I need a resource to find out about various models of New York City street carts.

I'm trying to do some research on the various models of street carts used around New York City. Does anybody know of a catalogue I can order or a website where street vendors buy their carts?

You might try All American Hot Dog Carts. They were just featured on Unwrapped on the Food Channel. The sell what they call "The New York City Street Cart."

I've spotted these carts being built in garages in Flushing. I think most of them are built by Some Guy.

BTW -- the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs/Health regulates and issues licenses and permits for food-related street vending.

A long-shot, but maybe worth trying -- contact them to see if they know of the more popular suppliers of food carts in the city.

If you check out the New Yorker this week (the one with the giant bugs on the cover) there is a mini article in "talk of the town" about vendors, permits etc
