Question: Will I make my bus after Os Mutantes in Chicago?

I need logistical information on the set Os Mutantes have been playing for their current reunion tour. Will I be able to make it to my Megabus at Union Station by 11 PM to make it home?

I will be attending Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago just to see them. I then have reservations to catch the Megabus leaving from Union Station at 11 PM back to Minneapolis so I can pack up and move the following day. Their set is scheduled to start at 9:10 PM. According to one website, this is their setlist for their tour:

Anyone london or NY mefites who have gone to their shows please tell me all the logistical information you have. (Also, if nobody has been to those shows, anyone going to the Denver, SF, LA, or Seattle shows before Chicago, please come back to this post when it's done with. I'll be checking). Looking at those songs on my computer, they seem to mostly be under 4 minutes, not that that tells me much. If they stretch them out during the live shows to an average of 4 minutes including any interludes, that'd make the set about 90 minutes. Is that about how long the london and NY shows have been? Also, have they played any encores? Has anyone been to Pitchfork in the past? If so, do they keep pretty close to the itinerary? If the set is 90 minutes, it would end at 10:40 giving me barely enough time to make my bus, even if I wait right by the exit for the last song to end. Can I expect the set to go any longer? I may need to make alternate travel arrangements then.

Please give me all the info you have. I do not want to miss out on this probably once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, nor do I want to miss my bus and scramble to make it back home, late nonetheless, and have to bust my ass to move out on time.

(Also, anyone who's seen one of the shows, how are they, by the way?)

I can't tell you anything specific to your situation but if my experience is any guide, it is unlikely that at a day-long festival the 9 pm band will start at the scheduled time.

On the other hand, the festival's web site indicates that the show is over at 10 pm.

At the Pitchfork show last year, the festival was pretty strict about timing of bands and everything did end on time. I can't guarantee that everything ends at 10 pm, but it did last year.

Union Park, where the concert is located, is right on the Green Line Ashland stop a very short train ride to the area around Union Station. However, calling a cab from Union Park to Union Station would be a couple bucks and save some major hassle if the trains are late or incredily crowded (which they will be at the end of these shows).

It's going to be a close call: according to the CTA, both the green and pink lines will be running every fifteen minutes. You're better off taking the pink since it goes around the loop and takes you closer to union station, but you still have to walk a few blocks from the Quincy/Wells stop. So I'd plan on leaving the festival around 10:20 to make sure you don't miss the bus home.

If it's any consolation, I might have to leave at 10:00 so I can catch the last train to the south side. After Intonation last month, I took the red line all the way down to the 95th/Dan Ryan station only to discover that most busses stop running much earlier than they did when I was living in Chicago nine years ago.

Thanks for the answers so far.

35 minutes is definitely a letdown. I hope they play longer than that at pitchfork (but not too long, of course). Don't want to miss some of the show or my bus.

I just took the bus to chicago today. Spending a few extra days here. It definitely left a bit after it was scheduled to. If anyone else is still watching this thread and has ridden megabus, did yours leave after it was scheduled to? Maybe they leave shome cushion room for latecomers?
