Name that Street Sign Typeface!

What typeface comes closest to that shown on this street sign?

An image of the sign can be found here. I have it on the What the Font? forum right now, but I'm hoping the quick minds of AskMeFi can come up with something a little quicker. Thanks!

Response by poster: I should also mentioned that I tried the What the Font? tool and Identifont, but neither came close, even with a cleaned-up image with the forms highlighted.

On second thought, that's not it. Close, but no bannana. Sorry. Good luck to ya.

Response by poster: Not bad, but it doesn't have quite the serif that I'm looking for.

I hate to answer my own questions, but I think I'm coming close with either:

ITC Elan

or

Coliseum

Any other suggestions would be welcomed though!

Looks a bit like Trade Gothic. Not quite, but closer.

This looks like a custom, late 19th or early 20th c. lettering job. I've seen similar faces in the Dover Victorian Alphabets book, but your best bet in finding a digital font similar to this sign would be to post on the Type ID forums at the excellent typophile.com FYI it is unlikely that this specific typeface has been digitized
