Question: Flash Audio on OSX

I installed OS 10.4.7 the other day, and now Flash files are soundless—on all of my browsers.

I tried installing the latest version of Flash, but that didn't seem to do anything. Flash videos (such as things posted to YouTube) will play just fine, but they don't have sound. This is on Camino, Opera, and Safari. What gives?

I don't have any Flashblock extensions for any of these three browsers. I looked through the system preferences, and searched through AskMe, but I can't find anything. Please help!

I had "No audio output devices available" in my Sound System Preferences immediately following 10.4.6 -> 10.4.7. One reboot, and suddenly my Intel imac and it's sound output were friends again.

Is it *just* flash, or have you lost audio from everything?

Man, that's weird. I went to cillit bang's link, followed it to here, tried it, and it worked.

For anyone else who has this problem, open GarageBand, make a new file, run your mouse over the piano a little, and the sound's magically turned back on.

Fixed, but unsatisfying.

GarageBand does some audio maintenance routines when it starts up and when it is creating files. It can be used to fix a whole assortment of wonky sound issues. Kind of "resets" everything.
