Question: Help Wanted

i've been offered a new job as a digital cable installer with Professional Broadband Inc. Where can i find information concerning average pay rate, ect.?

i plan to leave my teaching job for this one. i can't find any information concerning the average pay rate of someone in the same position in other companies. where can i gather information about this position before i get to the orientation? the job is advertised at $40k-$70k, which is a wicked HUGE range. before i surrender and quit teaching, i'd like to know something about the position beyond what the recruiter is feeding me.

www.salary.com is a pretty big, thorough, and much-used resource regarding salary information in all sorts of fields, locations, and experience levels.

A co-worker had a job as a cable installer. Said it was the worst job ever. You're usually are only allowed so many minutes per install, no matter how complicated it is.

Also be advised that cable installers have a pretty high turnover rate. Our guy took two hours one time and I complained to his boss who told basically told me "sorry about that, I'll fire him."
