Get Dishnetwork working with TIVO?

Tivo and Dish Network...why won't they play nicely?

I hooked up Tivo and went through the guided setup and everything was fine...I started watching 'live tv' and decided to watch a different channel...as soon as I changed the channel, Dish Network decided I didn't exist and kept giving me the "you do not subscribe to this channel message" I tried resetting both the tivo and the dish and dish went and found all its satellites and everything and still no joy...

any clues? Please? :)

THANK YOU!!

You have to tell Tivo what your programming line up is and deselect the channels you don't receive or adjust the IR flasher that Tivo uses to change the Dish receiver.

Do you have the right Dish Network equipment? You need a system that is capable of tuning to two different channels to use it with a PVR this way. It's called a dual line tuner or something like that.

The dual tuner isn't required for this, Pink. The issue here is that it is either trying to change to a channel you don't have, or it isn't changing the channel correctly. I had the second issue, and it took a lot of tweaking to get the IR signal right. Check out Tivo Community for tons of information, and there should be lists of what IR settings work best with your particular Dish Network reciever.

Keep your Dish remote nearby though, because once TiVo hits one of these channels, you have to hit channel up or down to get back to a working channel.

Best answer: You have to line up your channels.

1. go to tivo central
2. new msgs and settings
3. settings
4. channels
5. channel list
6. and then have a check mark next to every channel you get, channels you don't get, don't have a checkmark.

good luck!

Response by poster: Thank you! This was exactly the problem...when it hits a channel you don't get, it locks onto that particular channel. Telling it the channels to look for made everything perfect.

THANK YOU!!
