Create folder link in TiddlyWiki in OSX?

How can I create a link to a folder in TiddlyWiki and Mac OSX?

I have read the tutorial, and have tried to use the path structure mentioned therein, but the resulting link doesn't work. I'm using the latest version of Firefox on Mac OS 10.4.

Is there a way for me to have the computer tell me the path for a particular folder, and then use that path to create a link in TiddlyWiki? Does anyone have direct experience with this?

Also, it looks like the TiddlyWiki wants to open the resulting link inside Firefox, but I prefer for it to open in the Finder. Is there a way to tell Tiddlywiki or Firfox to open the folder in the finder as opposed to in Firefox?

In addition, ever since starting to use my local Tiddlywiki file, the scrolling behavior of web pages on Firefox is acting strange. Scrolling down works fine, but scrolling back up does not, I need to reload the page to scroll up. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I use Opera, not Firefox, but in Opera on my OS X Mac, file://localhost/ is the root of the Macintosh HD. file://localhost/Users/evariste/ is my home folder. file://localhost/Users/evariste/Desktop is my desktop. Etc. If you know where a file or folder is located via command line, just tack file://localhost onto the beginning of it to get a URL you can use in your browser.

I don't know how to redirect file:// from Opera/Firefox to the Finder, but folders are pretty usable in Opera for me, about as usable as in Finder except that I can't create new files from there.

In addition, if you just open a Finder window and use the Go->Go to Folder menu item, you can paste in the URL, but delete the file://localhost part for it to work.

Use file:// instead of http:// in your URL:

For example: [[TiddlerName|file://Macintosh HD/Users/username/Documents/filename.xyz]]

Also, if you have a Finder window containing the icon for the document, you can drag and drop that icon into the Wiki item editor in your web page, which will paste the file:// path for you automatically.

evariste, how can I paste the URL of the file if I do not know it?

Mr. Six, dragging and dropping into the Wiki item editor does not work. I use file:// instead of http://

I have now successfully created the link using the filepath demonstrated by Mr. Six. However, The result is that the file gets dumped on the desktop. It is a word file. Is it possible for the link to open the file instead?

Any ideas on the scrolling problem?

To open a word file, changes must be made to the Firefox download preferences. Tell firefox to open "doc" filetypes with Word instead of downloading them to the desktop.
