Firefox problems

I'm having a problem with Firefox loading pages at work and it is driving me crazy.

There is a particluar website I need to visit about a dozen times a day for work: POMS

When accessing it through Firefox, when I hit the "Next Page" link, I get an error message. Actually what the site calls an error file and I get this screen

When I access it through Internet Explorer, no error. Here's what's weird: when I access it through Firefox at home, there's no problem. I cannot figure out what is different between my home set up and my work set up. My IT guy at work thinks it is a java script problem (whatever that means) and other than make disparaging remarks about Firefox, can't do much beyond that.

Any ideas? This is really driving me nuts. Thanks in advance.

Do you use a proxy server at work? Do you use the same version of Firefox at work as when you are at home?

No

Do you use the same version of Firefox at work as when you are at home?

Yes. Firefox updates itself so both versions are always the same. Also, I checked this before asking the IT guy and MeFi.

I usually have to go to tools>options>cache> then click on the "clear cache" button at home for pages to load up. At work it's no problem.

And usually firefox automatically updates itself, so it's likely pasici has the same version at home and at work.

Dude, this is so totally Pepsi Blue for SSA's Program Operations Manual System!

I use the Firefox NoScript extension, and, indeed, I got an error with NextPage (I get "Error 404 HTTP Web Server: Lotus Notes Exception - File does not exist", not the message you get) when it was blocking JavaScript (my default); it worked when I allowed JavaScript from s044a90.ssa.gov.

Assuming you're not using NoScript (Tools -> Extensions to check), then go to Tools -> Options -> Content. Make sure "Enable Javascript" is checked.

Response by poster: Thanks everyone for responding.

Clearing the cache--something I do regularly anyway--was no help. And Javascript was already enabled (and I am not using NoScript.)

Have you tried using one of the portable FireFox implementations?

Do you get that error message any time you click on Next, no matter what page is currently displayed? What about the Previous link?

I hate IE also, but sometimes its a fact of life. When I get caught up with something that won't work - I just use the IEtab extension, at least I get to stay inside the Firefox window.

I would be happy to do that but what is so furstrating is that it works at home!

Could you install MR Tech Local Install on both instances of Firefox, go to Tools -> My Config -> Copy Text (MR Tech Local Install adds that to the Tools menu) and paste the results here? (And have you tried Skallas' new profile advice?)

Response by poster: skallas: You're a genius. That solved the problem. Thank you.
