Who are good uptempo Brazilian musicians, people similar to Tania Maria?

Elis Regina, her daughter Maria Rita, Gal Costa, Nara Leão, Marisa Monte, Flora Purim, Joyce, Maria Bethânia, Elizete Cardoso, Nana Caymmi....

hydrophonic has some good suggestions. If you like Tania Maria, (Jazz inflected samba/bossa) I'd say that Maria Rita's self-titled CD from 2004 is a great place to start.

Also, you can't go wrong with Luciana Souza.

If you want more uptempo material, you could check out Elza Soares, who has a brassy voice and a huge personality.

It looks like both hydrophonic and I are assuming that you're looking for other female vocalists.

Jorge Ben Jor is a man, but he is Brazilian and much of his music is uptempo and jazz/rock-infused. I've really been digging his work recently.
