Teen shops in Atlanta

Can you suggest places for young teens to shop in Atlanta (besides Lennox Square Mall). Any funky offbeat clothing stores--not too expensive of course. We will be there this coming weekend. Thanks!

Little Five Points

Seconding Little Five Points. It was definitely the cool alterna-teen hangout when I was in high school.

Specifically, Little 5 Points is home to Clothing Warehouse, Junkman's Daughter, Stefan's, Wish and a double-handful of other shops.

You'll want to park in the Junkman's Daughter parking lot, as the rest are all within easy walking distance. Depending on the time of day, parking might cost $2 or so. For lunch, go to The Vortex.

(Don't worry about the bikers parked outside. They're harmless.)

I think Plato's Closet is aimed at teens, and the location on Briarcliff is right next to Loehmann's, which has discount brand-name & designer stuff for teens (or women of about any other age).

Don't go to the Vortex. Go to the Euclid Avenue Yacht Club. Much better food (the barbeque brisket is the best I've had outside Texas), better (less) attitude and their bikers are equally as harmless.

I used to live in L5P, and yes, it's a great fun place to shop. And I second Euclid Ave. Yacht Club. I was just thinking fondly about their food the other day. Although if the Brewhouse is still across the street, that's pretty good, too.

It's more of an older teen / twenties / hipster place, but Youngblood is The Shit. East Atlanta Village is just down the road from them but I can't think of any teen stuff there.

The Vortex is an eyesore; us locals all rue the day they put that thing up. They also don't accept kids anymore since the "smoking or kids: pick one" legislation passed. I dunno about the EAYC but that's where I'd head for lunch. Much cooler.

Another vote for Junkman's. Junkman's Daughter's Brother (yes, that's the name) is its offshoot in Athens, and if the original is anything like that, it's exactly what you're looking for.

Be aware that L5P attracts quite a few, as some call them, “gutter punks,” generally harmless panhandlers, pot heads, etc. Also, many of the shops close around 5. For kids who are into music or comic books, Criminal Records, right next door to Junkman’s, is a great place. For restaurants in the area, Savage Pizza, near Junkman’s is good, and Elmyr is an adequate burrito place on Euclid. The Brewhouse is still there.
