Zoo story.

I am in Philadelphia. My wife and I would like to travel from Reading Terminal Market to the zoo by public transportation. How do we best do it? Also, we would like to get to Citizens Bank Park via public transport today. Is this possible? The web site has a lot of information about parking but nothing about getting there by public transport.

Best answer: The Broad Street Subway goes directly to Citizens Bank Park @ Pattison Ave. Should have no problems there, just catch the BSL and go southbound to the last stop and you'll be fine.

As to the Philly Zoo, a word of advice: *Take a taxi*. A bit expensive, but the Zoo's public transit is limited to two bus lines, both of which are inaccessible from Center City Philadelphia and run extremely irregularly. You're a party of two; taxi fare should run no more than $3-4 p/p from Reading Terminal. Just take that; you'll thank me afterwards.

Best answer: You can take the Broad St. subway line south to the Pattison stop to get to Citizens Bank Park.

I've never done it, but it looks like you can take busses 32 or 38 to get to the zoo.

Don't be afraid to ask someone. The Philly folks love to show off their knowledge of public transport. I once had someone ask me if I needed help just because I looked confused.

Best answer: I would also cab it to the Zoo from Reading Terminal. And make sure you already have tokens for the subway after the game - you do NOT want to stand in line to buy them at the station.

I've done the bus. It's pretty painless.

Best answer: An alternate way to the zoo would be to take the Broad Street Line North to Girard Ave & then the newly reopened 15 trolley West all the way to the zoo.

Good call by Scalefree, make sure you get a transfer before you get on the train to use for the trolley...

Response by poster: Philly citizens:

Thanks for the advice. Your zoo's pretty good, your ballpark's awesome and your city is wicked awesome!

(I married a Philly girl, but she's very rusty from living in Boston for 15 years.)
