Bay area landscape gardeners—anyone have a recommendation for a good landscape gardener on the peninsula? My yard is sad.

I haven't been in the SF bay area for a bit, so not sure if this would still apply. But a lot of landscape gardeners live in Redwood City, in the area off Page Street. Go down to around, say, 8th and Hoover, one evening, stroll around and look for a front garden you like. If there is also a truck with landscaping equipment in the driveway, take down the number or knock on the door and hire them (or ask them who did the work).

(Even if you don't find a landscaper, you will get some ideas for your yard)

The answer depends on how much you want to spend. The peninsula is full of wealth so you can go as high as you want to. It's also full of maintenance gardeners who will offer design and installation as well and buy everything at Home Depot. They may or may not create a nice garden for you.

I have a few names of folks who do good work, and I do reasonable design/consultation/tutelage myself(but don't know if I can offer my services in this post). Common Ground Organic Garden Supply is a great place to find good plant people. They probably won't specifically endorse anyone, but many are longtime customers or friends. It's also a great place to buy many of your basic needs.

Also feel free to post more of what you are looking to do, and I will provide some general advice of what to look for and what to be wary of.
