What are the best resources ( public records etc) for locating someone in Canada. Possibly in Ontario but not sure. All suggestions very much appreciated. The name is very common-- internet search not successful so far...

Canada 411?

Off hand, your easiest chance is the Toronto phone book. Just short of 50% of Ontarians live in the GTA. Check the Ottawa phone book too, and you'll knock off another 10%.

Mytelus.com is helpful, too, if Canada 411 doesn't work. You could also try infospace.ca.

What's the name? Maybe I know him/her! :)

OK, that's unlikely. But if you post whatever information you have about the person, including a way to get in touch with you, then maybe someone who knows your friend will come across this message randomly and be able to reunite you?
