I'll second what blahtsk said - The Slanket is great - it's warm, soft and has arm holes so that you can work the television remote. ;)

It's also been out of stock since March so you might want a plan B as well.

I have a down throw that is really nice.
It is great for the winter and also warmer weather. It is nearly June and I still use it.
I also have a chenille throw...it is ok...it stretches.

Any pets? (since certain materials can show too much fur)
Any allergies?
Preference for natural fibers? vs synthetic ?
etc.

I have 2 cats, no allergies. I'd like natural fibers if possible. i live in Southern California, so heat is not an issue.

Having grown up in Iowa, I have one of these from when I first went to college. It's kept me warm and comfortable on any number of couches.

If you've got an issue with scratchy wool, don't worry: These babies soften up in no time. The one I have is admittedly years old, and feels like an old friend, but I don't recall any real time spent dealing with the "scratchies".

That slanket looks really nice.

I have PILES of blankets on my couch so that I can add/subtract depending on weather. In cold cold weather, I wrap a quilt around my shoulders and have a fleece blanket over the rest of me so I stay warm while reading.

A big thick fleece blanket of any kind (sleeves or not) is a wonderful wonderful thing.

Don't let the loose knit of the blanket fool you, it's extremely warm and cozy, not to mention super soft. They only have the cranberry color left, but it is on clearance. Definitely the nicest throw blanket I've had. Perfect for cuddling up with.

Another vote for the Slanket, if they start shipping again. I bought one earlier this year, and I really like it.
