Name That Font!

Can anybody name this font?


I'm converting a client's tiny raster logo into vector and have had no luck with www.whatthefont.com or www.identifont.com. Please help!

It reminds me of Chicago.

That's not it, though. Perhaps it's a custom design?

I can't imagine why you said whatthefont.com didn't help. It accepts a URL, so I gave it the URL of your sample. On the next page, it had misidentified several of the characters, but I corrected them in the supplied boxes.

Just one more click and it gave Dragon EF Demi Bold. At 72 points, it shows delicate features like serifs, but you admit that you scanned a "tiny raster logo." At 24 points, you can't see the serifs.

If this isn't the font, then the true font is either a rip-off of Dragon EF Demi Bold, or Dragon EF Demi Bold is a rip-off of the true font. It's way too close to be a miss. Dragon seems to be the original, as Bitstream (myfonts.com) says it was originally released as a typeface in 1974.

Dragon EF Demi Bold looks different to me. Look at the t's - your font has a horizontal top, unlike Dragon's sloping t top. The left side of your font's o is wider than the right, again unlike Dragon's symmetrical o's.

Even a cursory visual comparison shows that the source font is not the font you linked too. Dragon's o symetrical, as are the verticle lines in the 'e'. The source font is not.

That said, you could probably use Dragon, expand to vectors, and then modify the o by hand.

WhatTheFont: MyFonts reckons it's Dragon EF Demi Bold

But there's a site called Identifont you could also try. I didn't have enough info to find your font - If you have more example text ...

You can't always do it with machine matching.

It's ITC Luna Bold.

I know the question has been answered, but I always tell people to go to Typophile, where they love doing this sort of thing.
