How do I convert documents from .wps format to .doc format?

I understand that the general advice regarding Works documents is "don't save them like that," but I'm not in control of their creation. Open Office and Office don't recognize the files, and I need a OSX AND Mac solution. I am open to purchasing software < $75, although I would prefer not to.

There's this, but I have no way to verify whether that works with Mac and OSX, as I have a Windows box.

Well, one obvious solution would be to just by works, open, and then save into a different format.

Hopefully someone can give a better answer, but as a last ditch, that'll work and should be something under $75.

Word won't open Works documents natively? I have trouble believing that. That is also a noop statement, unless you're doing weird side-effect things in Perl. :)

(My copy of Word 2003 for Windows lists Works 6 and 7 as formats in the Open dialog .. perhaps you didn't install a converter/filter during installation, or the OS X version doesn't support it. Try running setup again and look for more to install.)

I haven't tested this; my home pc doesn't have MS Office, but take a look at this. Works has some nice features. I never understood why M$oft didn't make it a stepping-stone to Office. Anyway, I used this Google search, in case it's useful/

Bah, I futzed my question when I said "OSX AND Mac." I'm insane, sorry.

Sweet, looks like I didn't need the Mac version after all, and cerebus19's link set things straight. Cheers!
