Question: Villa in Tuscany

7 friends and I will be traveling to Tuscany in mid-June and are looking for accommodations. We would prefer to stay in a villa as opposed to a hotel. Has anyone spent considerable time in Tuscany who can recommend a place to stay. Price is not really a concern at this point.

If the 8 of you have any rowing experience, or would like to learn rowing in Italy, my fiancee and I have been to a program that sets you up with accommodations, cultural outings, rowing practice, etc. It's fun stuff, run by a really cool couple. When we went, it was about $1100 USD per person for one week.
I met with about 10 members of my family exactly 2 years ago, and spent 2+ weeks in 2 different villas in Tuscany. It was very, very nice. But they did all the arrangements in Israel, and I just showed up (from the US), so I'll ask them to get the details of addresses, etc. for you. Some info here.

My wife and I , and six others rented a wonderful farmhouse 10 km outside of Siena--in the evening we watched the sun set behind the towers and walls of Siena, there was a wonderful pool, olive orchards, five bedrooms, hedges of rosemary, large Tuscan dining area inside and out--on and on--not a soul was disappointed and all were very pleased. Excellent location for day trips and wonderful restaurants with 10 minutes yet very private. I can not locate the link. If you are interested email me and I will get you the information

This place sleeps 8. I was there in a group of 8, it was fantastic. Pool shared with two other villas, gorgeous views, village in walking distance (including a decent restaurant), lots of nice excursions within a short drive. The villa has two large living rooms and a large dining room, three bathrooms (two with shower, one with bath). We found it very spacious.

I've stayed at this place just outside of Arezzo twice with big groups of friends, and it was fantastic. Even if that's not quite the area you're looking for, I'd recommend the villa rental agency -- they were really great.

I wholeheartedly recommend Villa Rucellai in Prato, outside Florence. We spent our honeymoon there and had a wonderful time. They make their own wine and were also making olive oil while we were there. The family is great and there are numerous English speakers at the house, if that matters to you.

My family has stayed at Montestigliano, outside of Siena, a couple of times. I can't say enough good things about it! It's an olive estate that still produces olive oils. There are quite a few different villas of different sizes on the estate. The manager is British and specializes in helping English-speaking tourists travel around Tuscany. There are plenty of great restaurants within a short driving distance, and the manager can hook you up with all sorts of activities (cooking classes, horseback riding, etc.)
