MSExcel: how to place data in one cell from an ODBC source based on data in another cell?

Let's say I have an Excel sheet. I want to use the value in cell A1 as my SELECT criteria for querying an ODBC source, and populate cell A2 with the value of a field in the fetched row. How do I do this? Can it be done without Visual Basic (which I don't know well)?

Nevermind, I figured it out. Get external data, database query, using a parameter query.
