Help me find this short story sequel to the War of the Worlds.

I heard it as it was dramatized on BBC World Service Radio around 2003. The story was told from the point of view of a descendant of one of the invading Martians.

The alien had apparently survived the War and was living out his last days on an English farm with his family. He had mated with a human girl and produced a rather freakish, green-skinned brood.

What was the title of the story? Who wrote it? I'd appreciate any answers.

Interesting; I found this but it doesn't sound like the same story.
