Missing Formula Bar

Excel for OSX Filter: My Formula bar disappeared and I can't get it back!

The formula bar above the main window is gone and in spite of all of my efforts I can't get it back. I have clicked and unclicked the "Formula Bar" option under the "View" menu 100 times. I have checked it in Preferences, searched for it under the other toolbars, and looked for it under the main window. What's going on? Where is the stupid thing and how do I get it back? Anyone?

You may also want to try holding down SHIFT and CTRL when you open the program.
