PM 2.5/Ozone

Why does our air filter (Huawei mi air 3C) report high PM 2.5 concentrations (>300 microgram/m3) when running in parallel to an Ozone generator? The usual reading in that room is 1.

We’re not in the room obviously!!! But the air filter is App-connected so I saw that.

Could ozone trigger the sensor or is it a separate Ozone sensor and the score more about the healthiness of breathing the air in that room in general.

Best answer: Your Huawei Mi Air 3C detects ozone as a part of its TVOC (total volatile organic compound) in the air. Took me a bit of digging as Huawei's website only barely mentions TVOC, and it took me a couple searches to find that TVOC does include ozone.

You should heed the warning - see EPA’s page on ozone generators.
