Gift ideas for a 3-year-old Danish kid?

Want to find a cool gift that a 3 1/2 year old boy in Copenhagen would like and parents would approve of.

Parents are super-smart polyglots who probably wouldn't go for anything made of plastic or that somehow wouldn't be good for the planet. Something that stimulates learning and creativity would be good.

Thanks for all ideas

Where are you from? A local gift would be really fantastic! I recently bought my US based nephew a London Underground Brio set that went down really well!

Not sure how much you're willing to spend, but if it's a bunch, that's about the right age for a balance bike.

Response by poster: I'm in the U.S., but will be visiting Denmark to see said kid. So we could get something here to bring, buy something when there, or get something on the internet.

Maybe some new-classic English-language kids books? At that age, mine (girl, but irrelevant) loved: Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site, The Going to Bed Book, Dear Zoo, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Brown Bear Brown Bear. Then you can read them together when you offer to do bedtime stories!

My 4-year-old nephew recently enjoyed Bug Bingo.

I also get him non-English (he lives in the U.S. and his dad/my brother is a linguist) books when I travel. So that is a good idea.

A good quality stuffy, maybe of an animal local to you. Maybe from the World Wildlife Fund? For example, a bison calf?

How about some dress up stuff? You can get a nice old hatbox or small vintage suitcase as a special container and fill it with fun things.

Go to your local thrift shop or estate sales and choose a small assortment of jazzy vintage/secondhand clothing and a bunch of accessories. Wash everything well and roll or fold clothing to save space when packing it. If you're using a container with pockets, tuck the smaller accessories into the pockets. Belts can be wrapped around the outside of the box/suitcase. Smaller accessories can be wrapped in scarves or ties. It should be like a treasure hunt when the kid opens it. The more things you can pack in there the better.

I have done this twice for children I love and it was a massive hit both times.

For nieces, nephews, etc. in Europe the go to has been team/ sports apparel, jerseys, etc. from Boston teams. For a 3-year old maybe include ball and a bat or American football for extra excitement. We're not really sports fans, but these make good gifts. You have my permission to substitute the Boston teams with something appropriate with your locale.
