My Tivo died with all these NBA playoff games that I want to watch

My 6 month old Tivo Edge died. Tivo will replace it but isn't offering to transfer my recordings. Mostly I just want my unwatched NBA playoff games. (I'm about 10 days behind on watching the playoffs).

Tivo says "We do not recommend removing the drive" but can I remove the drive, put it in an enclosure, and attach it to my Tivo Bolt to transfer those games?

Also, is there a legit way to watch these past NBA games by some other means? Torrent?

Maybe someone else can confirm for sure, but it looks like NBA league pass would allow you to stream already aired play off games from this season, if you can't get your tivo working.

Unless something has changed in the years since I was using a TiVo, the recordings are encrypted with a key unique to the individual device. This means you're hosed if something other than the drive fails unless you've already copied the recordings to your computer or another TiVo, in which case they're either encrypted with the in home streaming key or the destination TiVo's key.
