Is it acceptable to file your tax with copies of W-2 forms?

A friend of mine got her tax done recently. By the time she wanted to file her tax, she can't find where she put the original W-2 forms. She did make copies of the original W-2's earlier. Is it acceptable to IRS to file your tax with copies of W-2 forms instead of the originals? Thanks.

If you file electronically you don't have to provide copies of the W2s.
