Does anyone remember this game or author?

Back in 1991 I used to play a Backgammon game on the PC - the format was based on the writings of a Russian (sounding?) Science Fiction author. I always meant to see what the books were like, but now I don't know his name. Any ideas as to who he could be?

Yevgeny Zamyatin?

Unlikely; Zamyatin is a writer who happened to write a well-known dystopia, not a "science fiction author." There are lots of Russian sf authors (the most famous of whom are probably the Strugatsky brothers); unless you can come up with extra information, I don't think we can help you.

Stanislaw Lem is one of the world's most famous science fiction authors. He's Polish, not Russian, but his works have been translated into nearly every language.
