Importing only *selected* contacts android

I can't believe I'm using a question to ask this since I'm usually very tech self sufficient, but clearly I'm not doing Google right. I have had two phones and am trying to consolidate to a single phone. I want to import only a subset of contacts from the secondary phone, but every option I've seen wants to import everything from the vcf file. There are a ton of contacts and I don't want to clutter up the primary phone. How do I this without having to import all and then spend a ton of time cleaning up? Both are Android and I have the contacts in a vcf file.

Best answer: Questions are unlimited these days!

Would it work to use a VCF editor to remove unwanted contacts prior to import? Here’s one I found: https://github.com/abdelkader/vCardEditor

Can you select the contacts you want in the contacts app on the old phone and share the resulting vcf file to your new one?

VCF is just a text file. Open it in notepad and purge the bits you don't want.

Response by poster: These were all good answers and lightning fast, saving me a ton of time, thank you! I marked michaelh's the best because it was the cleanest and quickest route but all options would all work. Thanks!
