Aggro electronic from '99-2000ish

A former friend played me something years ago and I've been racking my poor brain and scouring the poor Internet and still coming up blank. The way genres have proliferated in the intervening decades, I am at a loss how to categorize what I heard.

Here's what I *think* I remember:
- I *think* that they were Australian or New Zealanders
- I *think* that there was both a male and a female (with dreadlocks?) on mics and a DJ
- It was fast, glitchy and digital, lyrically pretty aggressive and raw/raunchy
- Kinda an early Burning Man vibe

Can't remember song/album titles, obviously can't remember the name of the group. I was not deep into that scene so I don't know if they are legends everyone knows about, or some random blip that popped up and disappeared.

TY IN ADVANCE MIRACLE WORKERS!

The Avalanches?
The main criteria they match is Australian-ness, and they have a DJ, They tour with a female.
Since I Left You is much less aggro, and lyrically, uh, much more fully cooked than raw... but you may be thinking of their first EP.

Best answer: Was it definitely not Die Antwoord?

Best answer: The era's a little out (ca. 2010 -- but time has no meaning) and the continent is wrong (although there's some SA / ANZ crossover culturally), but it sure sounds like Die Antwoord to me; can't remember dreadlocks specifically but they had a lot of extreme styles.

Response by poster: You know what - I think it definitely WAS Die Antwoord - thank you so very much!!! Didn't know they were/are South African. Must have suffered some time dilation in my memory.

This ID makes me so happy, as does seeing someone re-introduced to Die Antwoord :)

My first thought was "Die Antwoord... or possibly Hardknox?"
